Vallourec Tubos do Brasil, Vallourec's wholly-owned Brazilian subsidiary, has been selected to supply premium pipes for the offshore Xerelete field in Brazil, of which Total became an operator in June 2012.

Vallourec launched new welded stainless steel tubes to be fitted into umbilicals. Umbilicals are used to connect the equipment on the seabed to a control station at the surface, and are key components of a subsea installation.

Vallourec, the premium tubular solutions company, inaugurated its new research centre in Rio de Janeiro. Mr Philippe Crouzet, the Chairman of Vallourec’s Management Board, was present at the inauguration.

Vallourec would be providing structural seamless steel tubes for the renovation or the construction of Brazilian stadiums, prior to the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Vallourec’s Brazilian mill in Belo Horizonte supplied 10,500 tonne of tubes to equip nine stadiums.

Vallourec has inaugurated a new plant for manufacturing tubes for steam generators in Nansha, a district of Guangzhou, in southeastern China.

Vallourec has announced its results for the full year 2012. Sales volume was down 7% on 2011 at 2,092 thousand tonnes. However sales were stable year on year at EUR 5,326 million (+1%). Of the net income, group share of € 217 million representing € 1.
