Cenovus Energy Inc. (CVE) has appointed Alex Pourbaix as president & CEO and member of the Board of Directors. Pourbaix will start the role on November 6.

TransCanada Corporation has announced its decision to move forward with a new USD 2B expansion program on its NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd.

Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC), together with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui), have recently been awarded a 600,000 ton steel order consisting of large diameter welded steel pipe and plate as raw material for the pipeline from the consortium of TransCanada Corporation (TransCanada) and IEnova, Infraestructura Marina del Golfo (IMG), which has been chosen to build, own and operate(BOO(1)), approximately 780km natural gas pipeline that will begin offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, at the border point near Brownsville, Texas and end in Tuxpan, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

TransCanada Corporation has filed a project application for the Energy East Pipeline Project with the National Energy Board of Canada (NEB). "Energy East will eliminate the need for Eastern Canada to import most of the 700,000 barrels it consumes everyday", said Russ Girling, TransCanada's president and CEO.

TransCanada Corporation is moving forward with the 1.1M barrel per day (bpd) Energy East Pipeline project based on binding, long-term contracts received from producers and refiners. The conclusion of the successful open season confirmed strong market support for a pipeline with approximately 900,000 bpd of firm, long-term contracts to transport crude oil from Western Canada to Eastern Canadian refineries and export terminals.

Per its agreement with the state under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, TransCanada Corp. is continuing on schedule to file a public convenience and necessity application with FERC for the Alaska Pipeline Project to transport to Lower 48 markets.
