Nippon Steel to invest USD 6bn in electric arc furnaces
Nippon Steel is investing USD 6.05 billion to build and upgrade electric arc furnaces at three Japanese facilities to cut carbon emissions, supported by government subsidies. The project is part of Japan’s decarbonisation efforts under the Green Transformation Promotion Act, targeting full operation by FY 2028/2029.

A new research project named Swedish Metal is being launched by Sandvik, SSAB and the University of Skövde. Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and machine learning will allow unique and comprehensive production data analyses to be made.
