Gas/condensate discovery in the Barents Sea
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has announced the discovery of gas/condensate.
The discovery was made after a well was drilled about 50 kilometers northwest of the Snøhvit field.
Snøhvit approved
The plan for development and operation of Statoil's Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea was approved on 7 March by the Norwegian Storting (parliament).
Contract for two LNG carriers
Operator Statoil and five of the other licensees in the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea have entered into a contract with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisa (K-line) and Mitsui & Co for the delivery of two special carriers for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
