Ms Jessica Alm, Head of Communications at Sandvik Coromant, has been appointed Executive Vice President and Head of Group Communications as well as member of the Group Executive Management of Sandvik AB.

Dinggui Gao has been appointed President of Business Area Sandvik Construction and member of the company’s Group Executive Management. He has experience from leading positions in global industrial companies.

Sandvik’s new wire, Safeni 52, has a new level of feedability that contributes to higher throughput with less downtime and material characteristics that are for manufacturers of reed switches seeking well-engineered wire with good feedability and no supply chain issues.

Sandvik Materials Technology has successfully achieved HAF 604 certification for its seamless stainless steel tube and pipe products for use in the Chinese civil nuclear industry. China National Nuclear Safety Administration is the body responsible for accreditation and certification regarding the ‘Supervision and Management Regulations for Imported Civilian Nuclear Safety Equipment’.

Sandvik Mining has secured major materials handling contracts in South America and Australia. The combined value of the contracts exceeds SEK 950 million and will be executed and contribute to Sandvik Mining's business during the years 2013 until 2015.

Jonas Gustavsson, currently President of Sandvik Materials Technology, has been appointed new President of Sandvik Machining Solutions as of 1 February. Jonas Gustavsson has been with the company since 2008 and previously held senior positions at ABB and Bombardier.

At the end of 2012, the inauguration of the upgrade to the large extrusion press was held at Product Area Tube in Sandviken, Sweden. This latest and extremely important investment has resulted in an enhanced capability and increased capacity for extruded stainless steel tubes.

At the end of December 2012, Sandvik Mining signed a Mining Systems contract with Sasol Mining (Pty) Ltd for the Shondoni Mine Materials Handling project in South Africa. The value of the contract is approximately SEK 650M and will contribute to Sandvik Mining's business during the years 2013 until 2015.
