Primetals Technologies hot strip mill for SAIL plant
Primetals Technologies will supply a hot strip mill with an annual production capacity of 3Mt for Steel Authority of India Limited's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant. This order has been received by a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
ArcelorMittal, SAIL sign MoU on automotive steel JV
ArcelorMittal and the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up an automotive steel manufacturing facility under a Joint Venture (JV) arrangement in India.
The MoU was signed in London by Lakshmi Mittal, chairperson and CEO of ArcelorMittal, and C S Verma, chairperson of SAIL.

SAIL, RINL may partner NMDC for steel project
Two state-owned steel makers, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL), have expressed their interest to work with NMDC as a joint venture partner in the proposed steel project at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh.
Iron ore production from Chiria by 2014
SAIL will begin producing iron ore from the Chiria mines in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand by 2014. The company is set to finalize an investment roadmap for the project after completion of the detailed project report next month.
SAIL to rope in global mining giants for Chiria
SAIL intends to bring in professional global mining firms to operate its Chiria and Rowghat iron ore mines and the high grade coal blocks at Tasara. The company is looking for major mining companies who can offer the latest mining techniques with the least amount of waste and best environmental practices at Rowghat and Tasara. Big companies such as Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton could be expected to bid for these projects.
