Halliburton awarded a geothermal project
Halliburton has won a multiyear contract from KS Orka Renewables to support geothermal well construction for SMGP and SGI, providing directional drilling, cementing, drilling fluids, and bits. This is primarily a services award; stainless demand is typically indirect (well completion hardware and certain corrosion-resistant components) versus large volume materials supply.
China unveils 1.5 GW offshore wind hydrogen project
The China Baowu Iron and Steel Group subsidiary Baowu Clean Energy has launched the Baowu Qingneng (Yangjiang) Green Hydrogen Industrial Park, using 1.5 GW of offshore wind directly connected to electrolysers to target ~80 kt/year of green hydrogen, alongside a green ammonia line and planned hydrogen pipeline infrastructure
EDC secures DOE approval for 120-MW geothermal projects
Early-stage geothermal developments with moderate stainless steel usage potential in wellhead equipment, piping, and geothermal fluid handling systems.
Vestas secures 390 MW offshore order in South Korea
First offshore wind order in Korea reinforces regional renewable energy deployment.
EnviTec Biogas builds first biogas plant in the Philippines
EnviTec Biogas is resuming construction of a 1.4 MW poultry-manure biogas plant in Candelaria, Quezon Province, with fermenters, engine and grid connection already in place. Installation of internals, pumps and control systems will start in Q1 2026, ahead of feeding power into the Meralco grid from June 2026 – a classic manure-to-energy project with significant need for corrosion-resistant stainless tanks, piping and gas handling.
World-scale black pellet plant begins commercial operation
Idemitsu Kosan has started commercial operations of a 120,000-tonne-per-year black pellet (biomass fuel) plant in Gia Lai, Vietnam – the country’s first large-scale BP facility. The carbon-neutral fuel will help Japanese power users transition from coal.
