First ship with NSafe-Hull launched
The first bulk carrier adopting NSafe-Hull was launched in August for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. NSafe-Hull – a highly ductile steel plate for shipbuilding with improved collision safety – was developed by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) and adopted through the collaborative R&D by NSSMS, Imabari Shipbuilding and the National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI).

NSSMC suspends CRC exports to Indonesia
Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has suspended cold rolled coil exports to Indonesia after the Indonesian government announced to levy antidumping duty on CRC imports from Japan. According to data released by the South East Asia Iron & Steel Institute, Indonesia’s CRC imports accounted for 30% of the country’s total consumption.
