NLMK Group, an international steel producer with operations in Russia, Europe and the USA, has recently signed an agreement for the purchase of the core process equipment for the construction of a new walking-beam reheating furnace to streamline the slab heating process at NLMK Pennsylvania (Farrell, PA, USA).

NLMK Group has begun the replacement of turbo generator #5 at the Lipetsk site co-generation plant. Installation of the latest technology in place of the existing obsolete hardware will boost equipment reliability and increase the generator’s operating capacity by 10% to 60MW.

NLMK Group announced savings of EUR 6M in 2014 through the use of pulverized coal injection (PCI) technology at two blast furnaces at its Novolipetsk production site in Lipetsk. PCI technology involves the co-injection of natural gas and fine thermal coal particles into the blast furnace resulting in lower natural gas and coke consumption.

Russian steelmaker NLMK Group and United Metallurgical Company (OMK Group) have extended their contract for the supply of Novolipetsk slabs for the production of large diameter pipes at the Vyksa Steel Works up to and including 2019.
