Russia is set to invest USD 3 billion to build a nickel smelter in Halmahera Island, eastern Indonesia.  According to Indonesian Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, the construction is to commence in the first half of 2011.

Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PLN is assessing bid documents submitted by investors for a contract to build a LNG receiving terminal in Bojonegare, Banten. Seven foreign and local investors are reported to have submitted bid documents for the engineering, procurement, and construction tender.

Three oil and gas companies--ChevronTexaco Corporation of the United States, TotalFinaElf of France and Gulf Indonesia Resources of Canada--have planned a combined investment worth US$1.6 billion this year to develop the Indonesian oil and gas resources.
