JFE Steel Corporation will construct Indonesia’s first continuous galvanizing line (CGL) for automobiles at MM2100 Industrial Town, an industrial estate in the city of Bekasi just outside of Jakarta.

Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has suspended cold rolled coil exports to Indonesia after the Indonesian government announced to levy antidumping duty on CRC imports from Japan. According to data released by the South East Asia Iron & Steel Institute, Indonesia’s CRC imports accounted for 30% of the country’s total consumption.

Russia is set to invest USD 3 billion to build a nickel smelter in Halmahera Island, eastern Indonesia.  According to Indonesian Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, the construction is to commence in the first half of 2011.

Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PLN is assessing bid documents submitted by investors for a contract to build a LNG receiving terminal in Bojonegare, Banten. Indonesian state gas utility company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara PGN, will sign a USD 165 million agreement with Nippon Steel Corp. for a gas pipeline project to construct a 110km subsea pipeline segment that will link gas rich South Sumatra with Indonesia’s main island of Java.
