Hyundai Steel has successfully put a 4.3m heavy-plate mill on stream. The 4.3m mill supplied by SMS Siemag is designed for an annual production of 1.5 million tons of heavy plate in thicknesses from 6mm to 200mm.
Hyundai Steel orders RH unit from SMS Mevac
Hyundai Steel has ordered a fast vessel exchange Ruhrstahl Heraeus (RH) unit for its secondary-metallurgy facilities in Dangjin from SMS Mevac, Germany. Commissioning of the RH plant is scheduled for the second half of 2015.

Hyundai Steel was announced that it has restarted production of austenitic cold rolled coil at its Incheon works west of Seoul early on 17 September, after a five-day shutdown.
Stainless CR production cut
Due to the slower demand in South Korea and the fact that the price of nickel is falling, South Korea-based Hyundai Steel will start its fourth production cut in stainless steel cold rolled (CR) this year, said an official from Hyundai Steel.
