The European Commission has published definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of stainless steel cold-rolled flat products (SSCR) from China and Taiwan (Regulation 2015/1429). The European Commission has confirmed existing provisional measures and imposes definitive anti-dumping duty rates up to 25.3% on SSCR imports from China, and up to 6.8% on imports from Taiwan.

ISSF: Q1 2015 stainless steel production is 10.4 Mmt

newsitemThe International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has released figures for the Q1 2015 suggesting that 10.4 Million Metric Tons (Mmt) stainless steel melt shop production was at the same level year–on–year(y-o-y). In Western Europe/Africa there was 24.8% hike in quarter-on- quarter (q-o-q) production and 7.3% decline in y-o-y production.

Bwxt Canada Wins Contract For Power Plant In China

BWX Technologies subsidiary BWXT Canada has been awarded major contracts for steam generator design and component manufacturing for the HPR1000 nuclear plant in Guangxi, China.

The steam generator design contract for Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power (GFNP) Units 3 and 4 was awarded by China Nuclear Power Engineering and China Nuclear Power Design Company -- wholly-owned subsidiaries of China General Nuclear Power Corporation.

EU imposes anti-dumping duties on stainless steel

newsitemThe European Union will impose anti-dumping duties on imports of cold-rolled flat stainless steel from China and Taiwan, according to a notice in the EU's Official Journal. The EU will apply tariffs of up to 25.2% for sheet, coil and strip imports from China and up to 12% for Taiwanese product, following a complaint lodged in May 2014 by the European steel producers association, Eurofer.

AkzoNobel breaks ground for new plant in China

AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals business broke ground on a new alkoxylation facility in Ningbo, China, bringing the company’s total investment in the strategic multi-site to more than EUR 400M.
