Statkraft to build Los Lagos hydropower plant in Chile
Statkraft has decided to start construction of the Los Lagos hydropower plant in Chile. The construction is planned to commence in August and completion is scheduled for H2 of 2022.
KBR awarded contract in Chile
KBR, Inc. (NYSE: KBR) announced today that it has been awarded a license and engineering (LBED) contract by ENAP Refinerías SA (ENAP) to utilize KBR's ROSE® solvent deasphalting technology at their Bío Bío refinery in Concepcion, Chile.
Petrobras Chile receives award
Petrobras Chile has received the 2010 Outstanding Company of the Year Award for its contribution to the economic development of Brazil and Chile. CEO of Petrobras Chile, Vilson Reichemback, accepted the award given by the president of the Chilean-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Juan Irarrázabal, and the Ambassador of Brazil in Chile, Frederico Cezar de Araújo, in Santiago.
Shell to sell majority of Chile downstream unit
Shell has agreed to sell most of its downstream business in Chile to Quiñenco for a total value of approximately USD 614 million. Under a separate contract, Quiñenco has also been appointed as a Macro Distributor to market, sell and distribute Shell branded lubricants in Chile; they will become the delivery service provider for Shell Marine Products' international customers in the country.
AMEC awarded EPCM contract
AMEC has received an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract by mining company Compañía Minera del Pacífico, a subsidiary of Chilean steel and iron ore producer Grupo CAP.
Argentina saves glaciers
Glacier protection legislation was passed by the Argentine Senate, banning mineral, oil and gas exploration in particular areas, especially glaciers already at low or middle elevations.
White Mountain Titanium pilot program
White Mountain Titanium Corp. has reported that good progress has been made in Stage 1 of the pilot plant program and that the program is on time and on budget. Working with Centro de Investigacion Minera y Metalurgica Tecnologia y Servicios (CIMM), Cytec Chile Limitada and AMEC-Cade, all of Santiago, Chile, the company has completed the gravity pre-concentration step of the Stage 1 program and has moved on to the next step, flotation.
Acesita to expand exports
Acesita, a Brazil-based stainless producer and a subsidiary of Arcelor Mittal, plans to expand exports to Argentina and Chile by 30% this year.
