Siemens wins FPSO topside solutions contract

Siemens Energy has been awarded several contracts for the supply of topside solutions including power generation, water injection and power distribution packages for a Brazilian FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) project. Purchaser for the power generators and power distribution systems is Singapore-based Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. and Wasco through its subsidiary Gas Services International Pte Ltd for the water injection package. The FPSO is scheduled to start operation in early summer 2012 Jurong Shipyard has been contracted by the Norwegian company Teekay Petrojarl Production AS

Pellet plant, pipeline project in Brazil

The partners of Samarco have approved the USD 3.5 billion Fourth Pellet Plant Project at Samarco, Brazil. The expansion will increase Samarco iron ore pellet production capacity by 8.3 million to 30.5 million tns/yr. First pellet production is expected in the first half of calendar year 2014. The investment includes additional mining capacity and a third concentrator at the Germano mine

Vale may reduce stake in steel mill JV

Vale is in talks with two South Korean firms to reduce its stake in a joint venture to build an integrated steel mill in Brazil. Vale's stake may decrease from 50% to 30% in the second phase of construction of the plant, while POSCO and Dongkuk Steel could increase their stakes to 35% each. Currently, POSCO and Dongkuk Steel hold a 20% and 30% stake in the project, respectively.

Nexans receives power cable contract

Nexans will interconnect the two main high voltage substations at the new PETROBRAS COMPERJ complex currently under construction in Rio de Janeiro. As part of a multi-million Euros turnkey contract from Toshiba Sistemas de Trasmissão e Distribuição do Brazil Ltda, Nexans will supply and install high voltage (HV) XLPE cables and accessories that will be used to interconnect the two main electrical substations.

Petrobras Chile receives award

Petrobras Chile has received the 2010 Outstanding Company of the Year Award for its contribution to the economic development of Brazil and Chile. CEO of Petrobras Chile, Vilson Reichemback, accepted the award given by the president of the Chilean-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Juan Irarrázabal, and the Ambassador of Brazil in Chile, Frederico Cezar de Araújo, in Santiago.

Russia implements duty on some stainless

Russia has implemented a three year, anti dumping import duty on various flat rolled steel from South Africa, Korea, Brazil and China. The duties will apply to flat rolled steel containing 2.5% of nickel or more.
