ArcSave increase efficiency for Chinese steel producer
ABB has been chosen to supply its patented ArcSave® electromagnetic stirrers as part of a substantial refit at Chinese iron and steel producer Guangdong Nanfang Donghais steelmaking plant in Guangdong Province, southern China.
ABB’s ArcSave stirrer to be delivered in March 2020
ABB’s ArcSave electromagnetic stirrer will be delivered in March 2020 and installed on an energy-efficient, 55-ton electric arc furnace (EAF) at the new voestalpine BÖHLER Edelstahl steel plant in Kapfenberg, Austria, helping optimize annual output of 205,000 tons of high-performance steels from mid-2021.
ABB ArcSave® at Outokumpu stainless
In 2014, an ABB ArcSave® electromagnetic stirrer was installed on a 90 ton spout taping furnace for stainless steel production, delivering a wide range of process improvements including the successful elimination of furnace bottom skulls.
ArcSave – improves steel production output
ABB, has launched ArcSave, the next generation electric arc furnace electromagnetic stirrer (EAF-EMS) that reduces carry over slag and shortens tap-to-tap time, strengthens slag-melt homogenization, increases yield and contributes to safer operations.
The ArcSave’s powerful electromagnetic stirring enhances the large scrap melting and makes stratification less significant due to forced convection.
