ArcelorMittal WireSolutions signed three contracts to supply approximately 21,500t of steel fibres to the Doha Metro in Qatar.

Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) will take measures to realize the full capabilities of AM/NS Calvert, a US-based 50/50 joint venture between NSSMC and ArcelorMittal (AM), to manufacture ultra high tensile strength cold-rolled and coated steel sheets with high formability by the end of 2016.

ArcelorMittal and the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up an automotive steel manufacturing facility under a Joint Venture (JV) arrangement in India. The MoU was signed in London by Lakshmi Mittal, chairperson and CEO of ArcelorMittal, and C S Verma, chairperson of SAIL.

ArcelorMittal will supply some 15,000t of clad plate to aid one of the largest and toughest oil projects of the last 30 years.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has supplied more than 700 tons of 8mm–28mm rebar for the construction of a new, flagship Volkswagen car showroom, Volkswagen Center Kryvyi Rih, which is scheduled to open in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, in February 2015. Valeriy Hresko, Director of Volkswagen Center Kryvyi Rih said: “In 2013 we began the construction of the first Volkswagen dealer centre in Kryvyi Rih and finished the works at the end of 2014.

ArcelorMittal has been named Liberia’s company of the year by Global News Network (GNN) Liberia in its 'Who’s Who 2014' ranking. The company was more specifically recognised for 'drastically [impacting] the lives of thousands of Liberians through employment and its endless provision of scholarships'. In a statement, GNN Liberia highlighted how the company’s significant investment in Liberia’s mining and transport infrastructure is helping the country to rebuild its economy after years of civil war.

The five-year partnership agreement between ArcelorMittal and Technip, the largest European contract for ArcelorMittal’s wire business, has been extended by two years.

Industeel, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal specialising in the production of ingots and high value-added steel plates, is to supply 4,000t of steel to AREVA for the building of six steam generators at the Koeberg nuclear power station in South Africa.   AREVA won a EUR 300M contract in September to replace the generators at the nuclear power station close to Cape Town, operated by Eskom, South Africa’s public electricity company.
