Alacero reports 5% steel imports in Latin America

Alcero, the non-profit Latin American steel association has reported that in Jan-Aug 2015, China shipped 5.7 MT of finished steel to Latin America, 5% more than the 5.4 MT recorded during the same period in 2014.

Alacero launches 7th steel design contest

Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) announced the seventh Steel Design Contest for Architecture Students 2014. This year’s contest focuses on socio-economic inequality and housing. The students are to bring forward a proposal for a Middle Height Social Housing Building, as an area to improve the quality of life of the population through the construction of decent social housing inside the city.

Peruvian architect Frederick Cooper received Alacero Excellence Award 2013 at the Congress Alacero-54 in Lima, an event in which over 800 representatives of the Latin American steel industry participated.

Alacero reviews growth expectations downwards

Alacero assessed the Latin American steel industry economic situation downwards after the weak results observed during the first semester of 2013. This was announced during the last Economic Committee of worldsteel.
