Syria’s Ahmed Daaboul & Sons, a detergent manufacturer, and Saudi Arabia’s Al Rajhi are setting up a new USD 50 million alkylbenzene manufacturing plant, announced Zaher Daaboul, general manager. The joint venture agreement was recently signed in Damascus in the presence of Suleiman Saleh al Rajhi, an executive director at al-Rajhi. According to Daaboul, the plant’s capacity will reach 30,000 tons a year. 20,000 tons will be consumed in the local market with the remaining volume going for export markets. The petrochemical plant will be built by UOP, a major American engineering group.
