Syria: gas-fired power plant

A JV led by Greece-based engineering firm Metka has signed a deal worth more than EUR 640 million to build a natural gas-fired power plant in Syria. The project involves the construction, engineering and procurement of a 700MW plant 35km south of Damascus. Metka has a 75% stake in the venture with Italy-based Ansaldo Energia, a unit of Italy-based Finmeccanica, holding 25%.
