Ahlsell in Sweden have made an offer to purchase AS Bergens Rørhandel and AS Stavanger Rørhandel. The increased competition from international companies, including the requirement for logistics, optimal purchasing etc.,indicates the need to participate in a major Nordic group. After a thorough evaluation process the current owners of BR/SR have accepted the offer. The result is that the Hestness family, after many years involvement within the fields of VVS/VA, industry, and oil and gas, decided that the timing was right to withdraw from future participation. The main owner of Ahlsell AB is Nordic Capital. Ahlsell, which operates in all Nordic countries, had a turnover in 2003 of approximately 10 billion kroner,with a total staff of just under 3000. In addition to BR/SR`s range of activity Ahlsell is also involved in the electronic, cooling and tools/machine areas. Before the sale can be finalised, approval must be gained from the office of fair trading.
