Subsea 7 successfully laid GluBi® project for Hod field

At the end of March, Subsea 7 announced the successful reel-laying of the GluBi® project for the Hod oil field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. With this, BUTTING was able to proudly complete its first order for mechanically clad GluBi® pipes, which feature an additional special adhesive between the carbon-manganese steel and the corrosion-resistant liner. BUTTING offers its customers product solutions that promote sustainable success. In recent years, for example, the family business has developed the GluBi® pipe for the oil and gas industry. Unlike the BuBi® pipe, these mechanically clad pipes can be laid offshore using the reel-lay method without using inner pressure or increasing the wall thickness of the corrosion-resistant liner. This minimizes the laying and material costs for the customer.

It is based on a mechanically clad BuBi® pipe that features an additional special adhesive between the carbon-manganese steel and the corrosion-resistant liner. GluBi® pipes can be produced in sizes ranging from OD 168.3 mm (6″) to OD 457.2 mm (18″). Since the end of 2019, GluBi® has been certified in accordance with DNVGL-RP-A203.
