Steel Dynamics Ltd: The world’s first ISO 19443 certified metal service centre

UK-based Steel Dynamics recently became the world’s first ISO 19443 certified metal service centre. ISO 19443:2018 is an extension of ISO 9001:2015 specifically focused on the nuclear energy sector for those supplying products and services important to nuclear safety (ITNS). In addition, Steel Dynamics will be the first organisation in the UK with UKAS accredited ISO 19443 certification.
This prestigious certification demonstrates to customers the company’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Steel Dynamics aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, ensuring that right through the supply chain, its products and services meet the highest possible standards.
CEO Ian Griffiths said: “The approval reinforces our position as the number 1 supplier of stainless steel to the nuclear industry. It demonstrates our commitment to health & safety and quality and provides our customers with complete reassurance that all our materials meet the highest possible standards. I am incredibly proud of all our people who have contributed tirelessly over the last two years of this journey. In the future, I believe everybody in the nuclear supply chain will need this approval. It represents the very best in class of process and products and provides the vital security the nuclear industry needs as standard.”
