Steel distribution contract

Norbert Dentressangle has announced that it has renewed its distribution agreement with Outokumpu Stainless Distribution for a further three years. The new deal extends a 20-year relationship. The latest renewal incorporates a number of changes following the enlargement of Outokumpu and a move to a single site, which matches distribution to peak production and eliminates empty vehicle running. With customers in a wide range of industries – from cutlery to construction – the transport operation involves a dedicated fleet of vehicles delivering stainless steel products throughout the UK on anything from a daily to weekly basis. An EDI (electronic data interchange) link from Outokumpu’s Baan production system integrates with Norbert Dentressangle’s SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) system to provide pre-advice of shipments and allows ordering up to 4.00pm for next day delivery. Orders can also be tracked online.
