Stamicarbon has been awarded two contracts for a new urea plant with Inner Mongolia Erdos Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. China. Stamicarbon is the Licensing and IP Center of Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. One of the contracts is for the license and process design package and the other is for supply of the high-pressure proprietary equipment for the plant.
The plant will have a capacity of 2,860 metric tons per day (mtpd) of prilled urea and will be located in Inner Mongolia. Engineering work will be performed by China Chengda Engineering Company. Start-up is planned for 2014.
The plant will use Stamicarbon’s Urea2000Plus™ technology, which features Stamicarbon’s unique Pool condenser and a high-pressure synthesis loop fabricated entirely in Safurex® stainless steel. Safurex is the leading corrosion-resistant construction material for high-pressure urea equipment. It was developed by Stamicarbon in collaboration with Sandvik of Sweden. Stamicarbon directly supplies Safurex-protected proprietary equipment on the strength of its unmatched expertise and experience in design, engineering and fabrication, acquired in the course of many urea plant projects
