Stamicarbon secures contracts from Jiangsu Huachang

Jiangsu Huachang has awarded licensing and equipment supply contracts to Stamicarbon for a cutting-edge urea melt plant in China. Situated in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu province, this facility will boast a capacity of 1860 MTPD (Metric Tons Per Day) and harness Stamicarbon’s Ultra-Low Energy design featuring a highly efficient pool reactor concept.

Replacing a similarly sized outdated facility, the new urea melt plant will integrate seamlessly with the existing prilling unit. Stamicarbon will deliver the license, proprietary equipment— including high-pressure equipment crafted from super duplex stainless steel— and associated professional services.

The key advantage of Stamicarbon’s Ultra-Low Energy Design lies in its innovative utilization of high-pressure steam, which is employed three times instead of the conventional two, rendering the process remarkably energy-efficient. This ingenious heat recovery scheme is expected to slash steam consumption by 35% and reduce cooling water usage by 16%. With two operational plants already showcasing its efficacy, the Ultra-Low Energy design continues to set the standard for energy savings in the market.
