The Baosteel Group, the result of a joint venture between Baosteel and Nisshin Steel, recently entered into an agreement with the Trust consisting of: DMS Groupe Fives-Lille (France), ABB Solutions Spa (Italy), ABB Beijing Drives Systems Co. Ltd (China), Drever (Belgium) and Andritz AG (Austria) for the creation of a stainless-steel coil annealing and pickling line at the Ningbo Baoxin Stainless Steel Company, Ltd. – Ningbo (China).
Commissioning is due to start in September 2002, while plant acceptance is scheduled by July 2003. ABB will be supplying the complete process line, called âNingbo 2â?, which is part of the second stage of the Ningbo Project begun in 1996.
The Baosteel Group, one of the major manufacturers of Stainless Steel on the Chinese Market, has once more confirmed its confidence in ABB products, engineering and Industrial IT solutions and ordered a second treatment line – for the end treatment of plate after rolling (Cold APL) – with characteristics similar to the previous plant âNingbo 1â? (Combined Cold/Hot APL supplied also by ABB within the same Trust) and for the same purpose.
The ABB supply comprises all power equipment (transformers, distribution boards and rectifier and no-break power units), Drives Systems, Automation Systems and Instrumentation, as well as complete line engineering, commissioning and assembly supervision. For this project ABB is using its vast resources with deep know-how in Metals applications in its Italian and Chinese operations.
