The Steel Innovation Award 2003, organised by the German Steel Information Centre (Stahl-Informations-Zentrum, Düsseldorf) has awarded five out of its 12 prizes to the following stainless steel solutions: a wear-reducing washing machine drum; a self-cooling beer keg; a visual leak-detection device for plumbing; the âAl Denteâ? spaghetti tester; and the âLoungeâ? bar series. These innovations demonstrate both the engineering potential of stainless steel and its visual qualities.
