Stainless Steel associations from 16 countries around the world are expected to participate in this year’s Stainless Steel Awards programme. Announcing this, Dave Slater, executive director of SASSDA (Southern Africa Stainless Steel Development Association), which drives the awards programme, said this once again reflects the international significance of the awards programme, which originated in South Africa and is managed locally. Associations based in Australia, Brazil, Canada, the EU in Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the UK and the USA will all encourage their members and other companies and individuals to participate in the awards programme thereby substantially increasing international involvement. Although in the two previous awards programmes held in 1998 and in 2000 entries from overseas organisations were among the winners, South African companies and individuals won the majority of the awards’ categories.
