SS product mix realignment

China’s stainless steel industry is looking to realign its product mix to low nickel grades due to acute shortage and high prices of nickel and promote production and utilization of ferrite stainless steel. Mr Chen Chuanping chairman of the Taiyuan Steel Group while attending the annual meeting of the stainless steel industry held recently said that to ease the cost pressure brought by the price hike of nickel, stainless steel with low nickel ought to be promoted in the country. Mr Chen said that that ferrite stainless steel, containing no nickel, is the best choice for the development of the country’s stainless steel industry.
