SS forging billet increase

Sandvik Materials Technology in the UK is significantly increasing its supply capability for stainless steel forging billets. This is as a direct result of larger steel making capacity at Sandvik’s mills in Sweden and covers both standard forging billet materials as well as the duplex stainless steel grades. Aimed particularly at open and closed die forgers and the manufacture of fittings, flanges, valves and pump components for the process industries, Sandvik square section forging billets are produced in a size range from 80mm up to 450mm and supplied round cornered in the unground, spot ground or fully ground conditions. Key to Sandvik’s manufacture is the guarantee of material quality through the control of the production process from steel melting to hot rolling, forging and finishing. Sandvik forging billets are also available to rollers, extruders or for any other forging application. The standard forging billet material grades available are the austenitic stainless steels AISI 304/304L and AISI 316/316L and the duplex stainless steels Sandvik SAF 2205 and Sandvik SAF 2507, which the company is particularly keen to promote. Other grades can also be supplied.
