Thainox Stainless (Thailand) will inaugurate its 100,000t/y Sendzimir stainless cold rolling mill on 29 May to make the total capacity at its Rayong works in eastern Thailand 300,000t/y. Construction began in 2006 and Thainox began trials a few weeks ago. Currently, Grade 304 CR coils account for 70% of Thainox’s production, with the remainder Grade 430 and 439. Thainox will keep the same product mix when the new mill starts up but aims to change the ratio to 50:50 in 3-5 years time. In the short-term at least, Thainiox has no plans to add stainless HRC capacity. However the company does not rule out doing so in the medium to long-term of 4-7 years. Thainox has a bright annealing capacity of 60,000t/y and plans to raise B/A capacity in future though timing and quantity details remain unconfirmed.
