Spudding of Exploration Well on Darwin

Fairfield Energy has announce that the first well of a three well campaign in the Darwin area has spudded. The well is being drilled from the Ocean Nomad and is operated by Fairfield. Fairfield Energy is a North Sea-focused independent oil and gas company

The Darwin area lies approximately 130 kilometres northeast of the Shetland Islands in the Northern North Sea.

The drilling campaign follows a multi-year programme of subsurface work comprising new 3D seismic and static/dynamic modeling which has resulted in the identification of significant in-place volumes. Fairfield holds a 50 per cent interest in both blocks following a 50 per cent farm-out to TAQA Bratani earlier this year.

“This exploration and appraisal programme is a very exciting event in the history of our company. The multi-well programme is testing a significant opportunity which has the potential to be a material North Sea field.” Said CEO, Chris Wright.
