Spanish power plant approved

Spain’s economics ministry has approved a 400-MW gas-fired, combined-cycle plant planned by Union Fenosa for Villaseca de la Sagra in Toledo province. The generator, budgetted EUR 217 million, is to be built on the site of the existing 628-MW oil-fired Aceca power plant and is scheduled to come online in the fourth quarter of 2004. A second 400MW CCGT proposed by Iberdrola for the same site and scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2005 is still awaiting approval.
