South Africa: Fluor wins clean fuel contract

Fluor Corporation has been selected by Sasol Ltd. to perform project management, engineering, procurement and construction services for the off-sites and utilities portion of refinery upgrades at Sasol’s Secunda, South Africa, facility. The award, valued at USD 176 million to Fluor, is the latest in a series of awards made by Sasol to Fluor related to Sasol’s major clean fuels initiative, Project Turbo. That project is aimed at meeting stricter South African clean fuels standards, due to take effect in January 2006. It includes a number of facility upgrades as well as new plants to expand production of marketable polymers.
