SNC-Lavalin, Ansaldo Energia secure contract

SNC-Lavalin and its partner Ansaldo Energia, recieved a USD 333 million contract from the Societe Tunisienne de l’Electricite et de Gaz (STEG) to design and build a 420MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Sousse, Tunisia. The contract includes a complete power plant to be developed within a pre existing power complex. SNC-Lavalin will be responsible for the engineering and the balance of plant work including gas and water treatment facilities, construction of the power block, compressed air works and installation of the power equipment. Ansaldo Engeria will supply the equipment for the power block and guarantee maintenance for 12 years. Construction on the new thermal power plant will begin before the end of 2010, with completion expected in 2 ½ years.
