SMST-Tubes and Raccortubi: synergy for urea plants

Salzgitter Mannesmann Stainless Tubes GmbH, a leading manufacturer of stainless steel urea production tubes, and Raccortubi Group, top stockholder, supplier and manufacturer of stainless steel fittings and piping, have concluded a deal which is to offer a new solution for fertilisers and urea plants. The agreement will see Raccortubi Group granted preferential treatment in the distribution of Salzgitter Mannesmann’s 316L UG (UNS31603) and 25.22.2 (UNS31050) piping, ideal for urea production systems, and in the supply of the relevant fittings and flanges.

The continual expansion of the world’s population, and subsequent increase in the demand for food, means that agriculture is ever-more reliant on artificial fertilisers, such as nitrates obtained from urea. Together SMST-Tubes and Raccortubi will respond to the growing requirement for pipes, fittings and other piping components for urea production systems globally. This new agreement, providing corrosion-resistant materials in accordance with the latest Urea Casale, Saipem (Snamprogetti) and Stamicarbon specifications, can only help to cement the highest standards within the sector. SMST has a firm footing and years of experience in the urea market, whilst Raccortubi Group is specialised in fulfilling customer demands for complex packages.

Under the terms of the new accord, Raccortubi will stock a wide range of pipes and piping components within its distribution network, in the materials required for urea production. In turn, Salzgitter Mannesmann will provide Raccortubi with preferential conditions, in terms of supply of its piping and technical support.
