SMDI gets new construction sustainability manager

Eamon Geary, LEED AP – ID+C, has joined the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), a business unit of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), as manager of Construction Sustainability. He is responsible for assessing environmental opportunities for steel in the marketplace, representing the steel industry in sustainability codes and standards development arenas, and providing information and support to SMDI’s construction, automotive and container programmes and to other AISI teams on matters affecting construction sustainability.

Before joining SMDI, Geary was sustainability director at Michael Baker International in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for overseeing the sustainable design and construction of the company’s projects.
