Siri Island to become major gas export hub

Managing Director of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh, has announced Iran’s Siri Island is set to become the country’s gas export hub. The island is connected to the Salman oil field in the Persian Gulf via a 91-mile pipeline, a 194-mile pipeline from Assaluyeh, a 41-mile pipeline to the Mobarak offshore platform and a 49-mile pipeline to Sharjah. It is about 3.5mi long and 1.8mi wide, mainly houses IOOC workforce and naval force personnel.

Zirakchianzadeh also said Siri Island services the Alvand, Dena, Esfand, Sivand and Mobarak oil fields.
The largest natural gas liquids plant one in the Persian Gulf came online in February this year. It’s expected the plant will produce about 1400 barrels of gas condensates, 4000 barrels of butane, 1500 barrels of pentane and 8000 barrels of propane per day.
