“Significant” Mackenzie Delta gas find

Petro-Canada and US partner Devon Energy have announced a “significant” natural-gas strike in the Mackenzie Delta region of the Northwest Territories. The Tuk M-18 well, drilled 3000 metres deep about 25km south of Tuktoyaktuk, has an estimated recoverable reserve potential of 200 billion to 300 billion cubic feet at 60 million to 80 million cubic feet per day, the companies said Monday.
Petro-Canada and Oklahoma City-based Devon, with rights to more than 40,000 square kilometres in the Mackenzie Delta, now are planning next year’s drilling “with the objective of being able to secure pipeline space when Mackenzie Delta gas is eventually tied into North American markets.”
