Siemens VAI to supply rolling mill for stainless

Siemens VAI Metals Technologies (Siemens) is constructing a new rolling mill for stainless steel bar and light profiles in India for Viraj Profiles Limited (Viraj Profiles). As per the agreement, Siemens will design, engineer and deliver mechanical, electrical and automation equipment. The value of the order is estimated in the double digit million Euro range. The new plant is scheduled to come into production at the beginning of 2012. The rolling mill is being constructed as part of an extensive expansion program to raise production capacity and extend Viraj Profiles range of products. The company plans to use the new mill to increase its market share of stainless steel light profiles as the rolling mill will produce 180,000tns of stainless steel products per year. Siemens VAI and its Indian subsidiary, Morgan Construction Company Pvt Limited are handling the project jointly. Siemens VAI is providing the complete rolling line as well as auxiliary equipment for the rolling mill. The rolling line includes a single sliding stand roughing mill, an eight stand intermediate mill and a ten stand finishing mill, as well as the shearing and transfer systems.  Morgan Construction will be responsible for supplying the furnace charging, a 60m long cooling bed, the associated transfer and stacking system, the roller tables, devices to swiftly exchange the rolling stands, as well as the lubrication and hydraulic systems.
