Siemens to build BASF power plant

German engineer Siemens AG has won a EUR 230 million contract to build a gas turbine power plant for the Antwerp site of chemicals group BASF AG. The 400-MW plant will be operated by Zandvliet Power NV, a joint venture between RWE Power, a unit of German utility RWE AG , and Belgium’s Electrabel SA. The plant will be operational in August 2005.
