Siemens build new automation factory

The Siemens Industry Automation Division is further expanding its position in the Asian growth market by building a new factory in Chengdu in the Chinese province of Sichuan. The company will develop and produce high-end Simatic controllers and automation components from the middle of 2013. With the corresponding agreements signed with local authorities, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new factory will be held in February 2012. Siemens is aiming to satisfy the increasing worldwide demand for modern and energy efficient automation solutions, with its new Chengdu electronics factory. From 2013 the plant will mostly manufacture Simatic S7 programmable logic controllers (PLC). During an initial expansion phase, the new factory will cover approximately 3000sq/m. Depending on future market growth, the factory can be expanded to a total of 10,000sq/m.
