Russian steel maker Severstal said on 29 June that it was examining all options in relation to Arcelor and had not made a final decision on its next step. The statement said that “Further to our statement of June 25, 2006, we wish to clarify that we continue to examine all our options in relation to Arcelor. No final decisions on the way forward have been made at this stage. As of the date hereof, we have a binding and unterminated contract with Arcelor. We are complying with this contract in all respects. We are not aware of any position or intention of Arcelor in relation to this contract.”
