Severstal to supply rolled steel to Ford Sollers

OAO Severstal will supply Ford Sollers with galvanized rolled steel to be used in the production of 30 car parts used in various Ford models manufactured in Russia in 2014. Severstal will supply rolled steel for cutting face and non-face blank parts that are stamped at Gestamp-Severstal-Vsevolozhsk (a joint venture of Severstal and Gestamp), OOO Piterform (part of Magna Cosma International), and at Coskunoz, a Turkish company located in Tatarstan.

Dmitriy Goroshkov, marketing and sales director of Severstal’s Russian Steel division, commented, “Increasing our supply to Ford Sollers is a tribute to the high quality of our products and our technical support service for steel orders throughout the production chain, from rolled steel manufacturing to blank part stamping. This approval confirms our leading position as a supplier for international automobile companies operating in Russia.”

ZAO Severstal-SMC-Vsevolozhsk (SMC), a joint venture of OAO Severstal and Mitsui, a Japanese company, will launch the trial production of a welded blanking line and cut-to-length line (mini-CTL) from 0.4mm to 2.3mm thick feed metal. SMC is located near the Gestamp-Severstal-Vsevolozhsk plant, which ensures timely delivery of blank parts to the stamping facility. The company’s customers will be Ford, Nissan, Toyota, General Motors and other international automobile companies, operating in Russia’s northwestern region.
