Severstal certified to ship rebars to Germany

Severstal has been approved by German Certification Authorities to deliver 10mm–16mm steel reinforcing bar products in compliance with DIN 488 requirements. The DIN 488 conformity certificate grants the supply of rebars not only to the German market, but also to the Baltics and Eastern Europe where there is steady demand. The reinforcing bars currently certified are 10mm, 12mm and 16mm diameter bars manufactured at Mill 250, Cherepovets Steel Mill (part of the Russian Steel division). By the end of the year, the company plans to be certified for the full range of 40mm diameter reinforcing bars.

Dmitry Goroshkov, marketing and sales director at Severstal Russian Steel, said: “This certification will expand Severstal’s geographical markets and enhance the efficiency of our deliveries as we access these logistically well-positioned, promising export markets. We have already signed several deals to deliver reinforcing bars to these markets, in the aggregate volume of 1700t.”
