Senvion wins 18MW order for Italian wind farm

Senvion, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group – manufacturers of wind turbines – has signed a contract for the supply of six Senvion 3.0M122 turbines with PLC System’s Burgentia Energia. The turbines with a rated output of 3MW and a rotor diameter of 122m will be delivered to the wind farm Brienza in Basilicata. With its total rated output the wind farm will produce enough energy to supply around 10,000 households with electricity every year. With a total hub height of 90m, the 3.0M122 will be the first one of this type in Italy.

The big rotor guarantees a high conversion of wind into electrical energy. The 90m steel towers will be manufactured in Italy. Planned delivery of the turbines is summer 2015 and in order to complete the service for Brienza wind park, Senvion will also provide maintenance for five years after testing. The wind farm that is financed by Banca Popolare di Bari (BPB) will work at full capacity by the end of the year and is PLC’s first Wind Energy project.

To date, Senvion has installed 366 wind turbines in Italy at a nominal capacity of 774MW.
