Saudi methanol plant

Japanese plant engineering firm Chiyoda Corp. and a subsidiary have won an order to build a methanol plant in Saudi Arabia, one of the largest such facilities in the world, Chiyoda has confirmed. But a company spokesman declined to comment on the value of the deal, reported to be worth about 30 billion yen (USD 252.4 million). Chiyoda said that it and Chiyoda Petrostar Ltd had won an order from the International Methanol Co. (IMC) to build a plant with daily production capacity of 2900 metric tonnes. The plant will be built NW of Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh. The delivery date is February 2005. IMC is a joint venture between the Japan-Arabia Methanol Co. and Saudi International Petrochemical Co.
