Saudi Arabia: petrochemical award

Technip recently has been awarded by Al-Jubail Petrochemical Co. (KEMYA), a 50:50 joint venture between SABIC & ExxonMobil Chemical, a contract for an additional cracking furnace in its ethylene plant located in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This new furnace will allow KEMYA to increase its ethylene and propylene production by 110,000 tons per year. The project will be carried out by Technip’s engineering center based in The Hague (Netherlands) on a lump sum turn key basis. The start-up of the furnace is scheduled by the first quarter of 2006. Based on Technip’s proprietary SMK® gas cracking technology, this new furnace will crack both ethane and propane feedstock. Technip’s SMK® technology has become the preferred choice of various ethylene producers for cracking gas feedstock with over 60 SMK® furnaces contract awards over the last 7 years.
