Stainless-steel foundry the Steloy Foundry Group has joined a select group of industry role players in sponsoring the 2004 Stainless Steel Awards, hosted by the Southern Africa Stainless Steel Development Association (Sassda). Steloy was a founder sponsor of the Awards in 1998 and has lent its name to the biennial event ever since. Steloy’s cosponsors are Afrox, Barloworld Stainless, Bosal, Columbus Stainless, Fischer Stainless, Franke Kitchen Systems, Macsteel VRN Stainless, NDE, the Nickel Institute (NI), Rebuff, and Stalcor. Steloy MD Danie Slabbert said demand for the group’s stainless-steel castings has increased steadily over the past 20 years and he anticipates continued demand, especially for sophisticated high-alloy castings in heat, abrasion and corrosion resistant applications. Slabbert attributes Steloy’s growth in large to its focus on service excellence in all spheres of business, an approach which has seen the group compete with increasing success in the export market, both directly and also indirectly in support of pump and valve manufacturers.
The 2004 Stainless Steel Awards will be held at Kyalami’s Theatre on the Track, just outside Johannesburg, on 12 November.
